Instructor Cadet, can apply for the Basic Coaching Courses and Weapon Instructor (AC) Courses run by the team.

Training course run from either Fri evening or Sat morning to Sun afternoon, and separate modular courses cover the various ranges and weapons used within the ATC.   Standards are high, and the training is strict, such is the importance placed on the safety and supervision of these activities.

The team runs approx 12 courses per year, mainly at RAF Leuchars but can deploy to alternative locations to run courses, if sufficient numbers are available for training at another location (e.g. RAF Aldergrove / Kinloss). Details of courses planned can be found via the SATT Calander Page.

Getting on a course

Anyone interested in applying for a course should either contact their Wing HQ for an application form, or download and complete the form from here.   The form is in word(.doc) format for applicants to print out and complete for sending by mail to their Wing HQ.

Completed forms MUST be sent via your Wing Shooting Convener and then via Wing HQ for approval (ATC), or via OC TEST (CCF) who will forward to the Team if approved.  You will then be allocated a course and joining instructions will be issued closer to the course date.

After The Courses

Prior to “live firing” of any weapon, cadets and staff must undertake the relevant training on the weapon type and pass the necessary Weapon Handling Tests (WHTs).   Frequent checks are made during each year to ensure RCO standards are maintained to the highest level.
